AN/ALE-47 Chaff Dispenser#

Two dispenser parts on the same 30-cell body. The flare dispenser holds fifteen MJU-7 flares, and the chaff dispenser holds thirty RR-170 chaff cartridges. Each attaches to any surface and fires out of its face, so you choose the loadout by which dispensers you fit. Flares decoy heat-seeking missiles. Chaff decoys radar-guided missiles, but a Doppler-radar seeker such as the AMRAAM's is only fooled while the target flies across its line of sight. Fire them by hand from the craft's countermeasures row, or let them fire automatically when a missile comes for the craft. See Countermeasures.
